Job summary

Harvard University is seeking an Operations Manager for Facilities Maintenance Operations (FMO) Custodial Services. This role oversees day, evening, night, and weekend coverage across campus facilities, directly supervising up to 10 supervisors and 90-120 staff.

You’ll ensure service quality, safety, and adherence to university standards while driving staff development and operational efficiency. Ideal candidates bring seven years of supervisory experience, strong financial and analytical

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum seven years’ experience as a supervisor or manager of a service operation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web-based applications.
• Ability to read, write and perform financial calculations and administrative duties.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License.
• DMV background checks and clearances required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to SLA’s and maintains contact with customers and custodial supervisors for service delivery.
• Uses Microsoft Office and work order systems to prepare and validate data; monitors quality and efficiency.
• Provides staff leadership, training, and performance management across the team.
• Manages custodial supervisors; sets performance standards and conducts evaluations.
• Implements training programs and coordinates with Workforce Development for employee growth.
• Performs regular inspections and ensures compliance with policies and regulations.
