Job summary

The Fairfax-based DMV seeks a Trades Utilities Master Mechanic to maintain DMV facilities across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and related systems. The role emphasizes safety, compliance with OSHA and state codes, and responsive repairs to keep operations running.

Work hours 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with occasional weekend duty and on-call overtime; travel within the Northern Virginia region is expected; lodging and meals are reimbursed on travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of OSHA and risk management standards for facility maintenance and safety.
• Familiarity with the national building code and regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
• Proficient in diagnosing pneumatic, digital controls, systems, and electrical systems to reduce equipment downtime.
• Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics for construction and maintenance projects.
• Skilled in coordinating and managing multiple projects, timelines, and maintaining compliance with safety and construction standards.
• Competent in making independent decisions, especially in the absence of higher management, including emergency repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Proficient in using mechanical tools, electronic testing devices, and computer systems for equipment testing, repair, and data analysis, ensuring that all equipment meets operational standards.
