Job summary

Family Health Center Of Kalamazoo is seeking a Facilities Manager to lead the Facilities Team and oversee strategy, staff management, stakeholder relationships, and financial and project management for the organization's building and grounds.

The role covers oversight of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, security, lighting, fire safety, and irrigation systems, with responsibility for maintaining compliance and coordinating external vendors as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred with five plus years of related experience and/or training at the supervisory level.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Must have experience in Construction Project Management from initial plan and design to renovation of existing facilities and structures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage direct reports including coaching and mentoring to improve performance.
  • Conduct monthly team meetings with agenda and staff engagement.
  • Ensure up-to-date job descriptions and use of performance management systems.
  • Ensure health and safety obligations are complied with by staff and contractors.
  • Manage facilities annual operating budget and financial delegations.
  • Oversee minor building projects within budget and provide early warning of overruns.
  • Oversee facilities maintenance and refurbishment projects.
  • Ensure building compliance requirements are met and up-to-date.
  • Manage access to facilities and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Assess and repair system breakdowns and perform in-house repairs when possible.
  • Schedule external vendors for on-site reviews, estimates, and repairs.

POSITION SUMMARY:

TheFacilitiesManagerwillprovideeffectiveleadershiptotheFacilitiesTeambytaking responsibility for strategy, staff management, key stakeholder and business relationships,financialandprojectmanagement.TheFacilitiesManagerisresponsible for assuring successful operation and function of FHC’s building and grounds.The position is responsible for completing and/or overseeing maintenance of all systems such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC (heating ventilation air conditioning), security, lighting, fire safety, and irrigation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsibility for the management of direct reports including coaching and mentoring of staff so they continually improve performance and achieve their potential.
  • Holding team meetings on a monthly basis including the creation of an agenda, ordering of team lunch and engaging staff in the conversation and eliciting feedback.
  • Ensure thatallmembersofthe facilities team have up-to-datejobdescriptions and that effectiveuseismadeoftheperformancemanagementsystem includingsettingofgoals and objectives and carrying out regular performance reviews.
  • Ensure that all health and safety obligations are complied with by facilities staff and independent contractors.
  • Responsibilityforfinancialmanagementofthefacilitiesannualoperatingbudget including compliance with financial delegations.
  • Minor building projects including management of budgets so that projects are delivered within budget and provide management with early warning of any potential budget overruns so that risk can be managed and mitigated.
  • Management of facilities maintenance and refurbishment projects.
  • Ensureallbuildingcompliancerequirementsaremetandareup-to-date.
  • Management of access to all facilities.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance activities on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis to reduce wear and tear or breakdown of systems.
  • Assessing system breakdowns and determining the kind of repairs that are required.
  • Completingin-houserepairswhenpossible.
  • Completing frequent inspections to ensure cleaning standards and maintenance repairs/proper equipment function are being met.
  • Schedulingoutsidevendors,whennecessary,tomeetonsite,reviewsystemfailures, request estimates, authorize and oversee repairs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university preferred with five plus years of related experience and/or training at the supervisory level; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Must have experience in Construction Project Management from initial plan and design to renovation of existing facilities and structures.

Must be licensed as required by state and local agencies. Master plumber or a thorough understanding of plumbing is desirable, in addition to a strong knowledge of HVAC systems, and training as a Master Electrician or State Certified Journeyman. Facilities Management or environmental management certification preferred and encouraged.
