Colliers International is seeking a Technical Advisor to deliver expert consulting on restaurant equipment, focusing on commercial cooking, refrigeration, HVAC, and electrical systems. You will read manuals, analyze failures, and provide guidance to operators and internal teams.

You will coordinate with vendors, train teams, and help optimize asset performance. The role requires travel and strong communication, with work-from-home flexibility in a multi-market region.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• CFESA, EPA, or equivalent certifications required.
• Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment.
• Experience/knowledge in mechanical, electrical, plumbing and water treatment.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT).
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
• Role involves time in client restaurants and remote work from home in designated areas.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand equipment manuals, schematics, and specifications.
• Communicate with restaurant Operators, internal teams, and external vendors.
• Provide technical leadership and stakeholder support, including training.

GENERAL SCOPE:

The Technical Advisor is part of the Quality and Performance team and will be providing professional restaurant equipment technical consulting and support to various groups throughout the organization, defining root causes for trending and systemic kitchen equipment issues - primarily focusing on commercial cooking and refrigeration equipment, HVAC, control systems, and electrical systems. You will also have common technical knowledge on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and associated components. The Quality and Performance team is tasked with continuously monitoring, measuring, analyzing, and optimizing the performance of existing assets to discover defects, improve reliability, reduce costs, and decrease equipment downtime.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Successfully read and understand equipment service manuals, schematics, and specifications
• Effectively communicate with restaurant Operators, cross-functional internal departments, and external vendors.
• Provide technical leadership and support to key stakeholders, including training when necessary.
• Effectively coach and encourage restaurant support teams on proper kitchen equipment operation and maintenance.
• Provide support in leveraging manufacturers to define root causes with trending issues.
• Transfer technical knowledge and information to non-technical people effectively in both written and verbal form.
• Develop personal knowledge of restaurant equipment and building systems outside your area of expertise, including how the various components function within the overall restaurant environments.
• Understand the overall functionality of the equipment and building as a system and be able to think multi-dimensionally about the cause and effect each system has on the other.

SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma.
• CFESA, EPA, or equivalent industry-recognized certifications.
• Strong commercial kitchen equipment knowledge.
• Experience / Knowledge in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and water treatment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Teamwork aptitude.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT).
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Self-motivated for continuous improvement of personal skills and knowledge.
• Ability to travel - 50%.
• While this position is listed as work from home, there will be significant time in client restaurants

Area/Location Specific: Work from Home in Chicago, St. Louis or Indianapolis. Travel to various restaurants within that region on a regular basis.

Approximate CompensationRange for this Role:$90,000 - $115,000

Ourcompensationranges aredeterminedby role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum andmaximumtarget for new hire salaries for the position across allnationallocations. Within the range, individual pay isdeterminedby work location andadditionalfactors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
