San Joaquin County General Services is seeking an experienced and collaborative leader to serve as its Facilities
Management Administrator. This key leadership position oversees the County’s Facilities Management division, a team of
approximately 65 employees responsible for providing essential facility and property management services across County-
owned and leased facilities.
With an annual budget of approximately $29.9 million, the Facilities Management division provides building maintenance,
minor construction and reconstruction, janitorial services, real property management, facility security, and other critical
services that keep County facilities safe, functional, healthy, and responsive to the needs of departments and the public.
OR PATTERN II
Experience: Six years of experience in building
maintenance or engineering in a commercial, industrial or
institutional building or building complex including two
years managing staff with administrative and operational
responsibilities, preferably for a governmental entity.
Substitution: Coursework in mechanical, civil or electrical
engineering from an accredited college or university may
be substituted for the above non-management experience
on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years (30
semester units equals one year).

As the Facilities Management Administrator, you’ll lead the people, projects, and operations that keep County facilities safe, functional, and efficient.
Lead Countywide facilities operations, including maintenance, repair, security, and facility improvements.
Guide a team of approximately 65 employees, providing leadership to managers, supervisors, and facilities staff.
Oversee construction and renovation projects, partnering with contractors, vendors, Capital Projects, and County departments.
Manage a $29.9 million operation, including budgeting, contracts, purchasing, and resource planning.
Champion safety, compliance, and preparedness, ensuring facilities meet applicable regulatory and operational standards.
Drive continuous improvement, identifying smarter, more efficient ways to deliver facility services and meet County needs.
Principles, methods, and best practices of facility maintenance, construction, and property management; occupational hazards and safety practices of the building, electrical and mechanical trades; supervisory methods and techniques; California administrative codes and O.S.H.A. requirements; standard uniform building and safety codes; standard business uses of computer hardware, software and peripherals.
Plan, assign, supervise and coordinate the work of subordinates; plan and oversee maintenance projects; estimate labor, materials and other costs for projects; plan and execute preventive maintenance programs; keep records and prepare reports; express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external parties encountered during the course of work; read and interpret complex rules, regulations, plans and specifications; prepare budgets and make expenditure recommendations; utilize computers effectively to accomplish management objectives.
