Job summary

Essex Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Elizabethtown, NY is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support routine facility inspections, HVAC/plumbing/electrical tasks, and timely repair of rooms. The role requires on-call availability and a strong work ethic to ensure safety and comfort for residents.

Responsibilities include responding to maintenance requests, keeping equipment clean and compliant with OSHA standards, and assisting with emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Min. high school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong work ethic and initiative for quality service.
• Rotating off-hour/weekend on-call availability and schedule flexibility.
• Solid computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with regular facility and equipment inspections for safety, upkeep, appearance.
• Assist with maintenance of HVAC system, plumbing, electrical installation/repairs.
• Respond to maintenance requests by staff and residents.
• Repair and maintain vacated rooms in a timely manner.
• Be available for emergency troubleshooting and repairs of equipment.
• Ensure all equipment is clean and in working condition at all times.
• Ensure all work complies with State/Federal and OSHA standards.
