Job summary

Cavicchio Greenhouses, Inc. in Sudbury, MA is seeking a facilities maintenance technician to perform routine greenhouse maintenance, troubleshoot plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems, and keep the operation safe and clean.

Job DetailsJob Location: Main Farm - Sudbury, MA 01776Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $33.00 - $45.00 HourlyThe facilities maintenance technician performs routine greenhouse maintenance tasks. This position ensures that the greenhouse is consistently maintained in a safe and clean environment, by fixing, repairing, and performing troubleshooting on plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform maintenance on irrigation/plumbing systems.
• Assist in maintaining greenhouse mechanical and electrical systems.
• Assist in monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining greenhouse control systems.
• Perform general labor tasks to maintain and keep the greenhouse up and running.
• Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
• Maintain or repair specialized equipment or machinery.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment.
• Operate farm equipment on occasion, such as tractors and forklifts.

OTHER DUTIES

• Follow safe working practices and make appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
• Apply preventative measures to the greenhouse to reduce risk of future problems.
• Execute the duties of the position in alignment with the Company Mission and Conduct Policies.
• Use technology as required by the position.
• Complete required annual trainings as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Experience with motor controls required.
• Experience with plumbing and irrigation systems required.
• Experience working in a maintenance role in a greenhouse preferred.
• Green industry experience a plus.
• OSHA Trained and Certified Forklift Operator preferred.
• Experience operating a motor vehicle and a valid driver’s license required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Proven ability to perform semi-skilled facility maintenance.
• Ability to use, operate, and maintain equipment and tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to operate tractor and/or forklift.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical, plumbing, and mechanics.
• Strong diagnostic and documentation skills.
• Must demonstrate strong time management and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willing and able to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
• Ability to multitask and be flexible to changing priorities.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

PHSYICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly required to stand; walk; bend; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and smell.
• Occasionally required to sit.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds unassisted.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Work is performed outside in all types of weather.
