A Day in the Life We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, safety, reliability, and day-to-day operation of multiple laboratory facilities. This role requires someone who can independently identify and troubleshoot facility issues, perform repairs within their capabilities, determine when specialized contractor support is needed, coordinate repair and project work, and follow issues through to completion. The successful candidate will understand the operational sensitivities of a laboratory environment and work closely with laboratory leaders to minimize disruption to production, safety, sample integrity, and client commitments. This position requires strong self-management and availability for after-hours or weekend response when necessary. This position is 100% onsite M-F. The compensation range for this role is $25 to $45 / hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Base Office: Orange, CA Laboratory Schedule: Onsite Monday - Friday

3-5+ years of hands‑on facilities maintenance, building operations, mechanical systems, or related technical experience. Experience supporting laboratory, manufacturing, or other regulated production environments strongly preferred.
High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade training or related degree preferred.
Strong hands‑on knowledge of commercial HVAC, controls, filtration, plumbing, electrical/lighting, water systems, and general building maintenance. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot facility and mechanical problems, perform appropriate repairs independently, and recognize when licensed or specialized contractor support is required. General carpentry, handyman, roofing, plumbing and building repair skills. Experience with laboratory utility systems, including ultrapure water, air, vacuum, or similar systems preferred.
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, evaluate options, and implement practical solutions. Demonstrated persistence and follow‑through, with the ability to manage multiple open facility issues and drive each through completion. Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and make sound decisions without requiring continuous direction. Organized and detail‑oriented with appropriate attention to safety, documentation, preventive maintenance, and regulatory requirements. Strong communication skills for coordinating work with laboratory leaders, vendors, contractors, and employees across multiple locations. Mechanical skills for basic maintenance and troubleshooting. Attention to detail and strong time‑management skills. Proficient with Microsoft Visio. Proficient with Microsoft Project or comparable project management software preferred.
Working knowledge of OSHA and facility safety requirements required; relevant trade or technical certifications preferred.
Willingness to travel occasionally to service centers as required.
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and conducting site inspections at both facilities and service centers, including rooftop units.
Valid driver’s license required.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, equipment, and tools weighing up to 50 lbs independently and heavier loads with assistance or mechanical equipment.
