Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment in a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Intermediate mechanical knowledge of basic machines, pneumatics, hydraulics, gears and bearings.
  • Familiar with electronics such as photo sensors, PLCs, remote I/Os, servo drives and VFDs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on facilities equipment per work orders.
  • Respond to operational calls for troubleshooting and diagnosis.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Ensure safety by following lockout/tagout and electrical safety protocols.
  • Provide on-the-job training to level 1 maintenance technicians.
  • Document work histories and parts usage in maintenance systems.

Job Summary

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician II at Caterpillar, you'll bring your expertise to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our facilities' equipment. You'll be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement projects. You'll work independently on more challenging issues such as HVAC, plumbing and/or chillers, while collaborating with other departments to optimize system performance. What You Will Do
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on facilities equipment, in accordance with work orders and technical documentation
  • Respond to operational calls for troubleshooting/diagnosing problems with equipment
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical assembly
  • Exercise knowledge of industrial electricity, including single-phase and three-phase power, motors, protective devices, and photo sensors
  • Respond to service requests with little or no supervision and without interrupting production operations
  • Provide professional development and on-the-job training to level 1 maintenance technicians
  • Work as a contributing member of the maintenance team to provide the best service and maximize uptime of the production facilities
  • Monitor maintenance upkeep checklists to ensure efficient equipment operation
  • Complete work order processes documentation for complete work history and parts inventory tracking
  • Submit and assist with the creation and resolution of Continuous Improvement Cards
  • Document and correct safety issues to maintain a safe work environment
  • Work cooperatively as a team with engineering, operations, logistics, janitorial, quality, and environmental health and safety departments
What You Will Have
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment in a manufacturing or operations environment or possess a relevant certification or degree in lieu of experience
  • Intermediate experience using hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance tasks like lubrication, cleaning, and inspections
  • Intermediate mechanical knowledge of basic machines (pulleys, levers, etc.), pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, reducers, bearings, lubrication theory, drive components (sheaves, sprockets, chain belts, take-ups), and equipment alignment.
  • Must be familiar with electronics such as photo sensors, PLCs, remote I/Os, servo drives, and variable frequency drives
What Would Make You a Top Candidate
  • Experience in preventive maintenance and repair of chiller units/HVAC systems
  • Experience in preventive maintenance and repair of industrial air compressors
  • Preferred experience and/or certification in HVAC and/or Plumbing
  • Intermediate knowledge with AC/DC theory, relays, switches, solenoids, fuses, breakers, power generation and distribution (including 480V 3-phase), electrical safety, lockout/tagout procedures, National Electric Code, digital multimeter operation, and motor theory and protection
  • Intermediate knowledge with mechanical knowledge of basic machines, and equipment alignment
  • Intermediate knowledge with PM procedures, including performing PMs, logging completion, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge with production facility’s systems, including conveyors, robotic equipment, and (ASRS, AKL, and Auto Guided Vehicles (AGVs))
  • Intermediate knowledge with reading and understand mechanical and building blueprints as well as electrical schematics
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Additional Information
  • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00AM - 2:30PM. Overtime as required.

Summary Pay Range

$29.50 - $39.00
