Job description

The Facilities Maintenance Technician II is a hands-on, multi-trade role responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing facility issues across BGCCP's 22 club locations in Eastern North Carolina. This position combines direct technical work with vendor coordination and project support, requiring both the skill to resolve issues on-site and the judgment to know when to elevate, when to recommend a vendor solution, and how to evaluate competing options.

The role operates approximately 70 percent in the field performing hands-on work and 30 percent in administrative, vendor coordination, and project management activities. This position requires regular travel across a nine-county footprint and the ability to operate independently in the field while maintaining accurate documentation and clear communication with the facilities team.

Multi-Site Field Operations
  • Travel regularly across a nine-county footprint serving 22 club locations.
  • Conduct on-site assessments, perform repairs, and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Provide clear written reports and photo documentation on findings, work completed, and any follow-up required.
Vendor Evaluation and Coordination
  • Communicate credibly with licensed trades vendors (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and others).
  • Solicit and evaluate multiple quotes when work exceeds in-house capability.
  • Verify vendor work is complete, performed to standard, and aligned with quoted scope before sign-off and payment.
Project Support
  • Support facilities projects with multiple moving parts by coordinating timing, materials, vendor schedules, and site access.
  • Communicate proactively with site directors, senior facilities staff, and leadership on project status, blockers, and decisions needed.
Standalone and Rented Site Coordination
  • Understand the operational differences between BGCCP-owned standalone sites (where the organization is responsible for everything inside and outside) and rented locations (where work is coordinated with landlords and property management).
  • Engage appropriately with each site type, including building working relationships with landlord-side contacts.
Work Order Ownership
  • Take complete ownership of assigned work orders in MaintainX from initial assessment through completion.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including before-and-after photos, parts used, time spent, and follow-up communication with the requester.
Preventive Maintenance and Safety Inspections
  • Perform required recurring inspections on schedule, including fire extinguishers, fire doors, backflow prevention, vehicle registrations, and similar compliance items.
  • Flag safety issues immediately to the Sr. Director of Facilities & Transportation.
  • Comply with all OSHA and BGCCP safety standards on-site.
Supply and Inventory Awareness
  • Maintain working knowledge of supply needs at assigned sites.
  • Coordinate with senior facilities staff on procurement of materials, tools, and equipment.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform special assignments and assist with special projects as directed.
  • Assume other duties as assigned in support of the facilities and transportation team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on facilities maintenance experience in a multi-site, commercial, or institutional setting.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of at least three of the following: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general building systems.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and basic diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong judgment about when to act, when to elevate, and when to engage a licensed vendor.
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license required.
  • Ability to operate organization vehicles, including light trucks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree, trade school certificate, or completed apprenticeship in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or general building trades strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting a portfolio of 5 or more buildings preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
  • NC electrical journeyman or apprentice.
  • NC plumbing apprentice or higher.
  • BGCCP will support pursuit of relevant certifications as part of professional development.
  • Proficiency with smartphone and tablet applications for work order management; BGCCP uses MaintainX.
  • Comfortable with email, basic spreadsheets, and photo documentation.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new technology tools as the organization evolves.
  • CDL preferred but not required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking with site staff, vendors, landlords, and senior leadership.
  • Self-directed and accountable when working alone on-site.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose root causes and propose practical solutions.
ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Regular travel across a nine-county footprint in Eastern North Carolina, with most days involving 1 to 3 site visits.
  • A fleet vehicle is provided for site-to-site travel.
  • Hybrid of in-vehicle, on-site (indoor and outdoor), and occasional office-based work.
