Job summary

The State of Florida's Florida Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an OPS Maintenance Repairman to support the Veterans Nursing Home. The role involves repairing and maintaining building systems, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical equipment, and ensuring safety and compliance across daily operations.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of relevant experience, English communication skills, and the ability to pass a Level II background check and drug test.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of maintenance and repair experience in buildings, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
• Experience with plumbing, HVAC, and electrical equipment.
• Must pass Level II background check and drug test.
• Experience in long-term care or hospital settings with geriatrics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repair and maintenance of Veterans Nursing Home under supervision.
• Help compile energy use data and support energy conservation programs.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance to keep machinery and building systems operational.
• Provide routine repair services and assist with installation of equipment.
• Follow the preventive maintenance plan and safety procedures.
• Communicate with staff, residents, and vendors; document outcomes.
• Keep tools and workspace clean and organized; contribute to a safe environment.
• Be willing to learn new procedures and techniques; attend in-service trainings.
• May be on emergency call status as designated by the supervisor.
• Follow department policies and applicable laws and regulations.
