Job summary

Ghirardelli Chocolate Company in San Leandro, CA is seeking a Facility Maintenance Helper to perform general maintenance, repair, and improvement work across office, warehouse, and production areas to keep operations safe, clean, and efficient.

You will handle routine tasks from basic carpentry and painting to electrical and plumbing within training scope, replace fixtures and lighting, operate hand and power tools, and document work orders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience in general building maintenance or facilities support preferred.
• Experience with carpentry, painting, plumbing, and light electrical work.
• Ability to read basic instructions, safety procedures, and work orders with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on doors, locks, walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, fixtures, and office equipment.
• Troubleshoot and complete basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and light electrical repairs within scope of training and company policy.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, weather stripping, hardware, and other common building components.
• Assemble, move, and install office furniture, shelving, whiteboards, signage, and workstation accessories.
• Support industrial facility upkeep by maintaining non-production areas and general building conditions.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify safety hazards and report issues requiring specialized repair.
• Maintain parking lots, walkways, gates, fences, and exterior areas.
• Use work orders or maintenance logs to document completed work and follow-up needs.
• Safely operate hand and power tools and ladders.
