Job summary

Fagron North America is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to maintain reliability, safety, and efficiency of our pharmaceutical production facility. You will perform hands-on mechanical, electrical, and instrumental maintenance in a regulated environment, with strict adherence to cGMP standards.

The role requires experience with CMMS, reading blueprints and P&IDs, and proactive preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of maintenance experience in regulated manufacturing or pharmaceutical environments.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP, FDA, and cleanroom standards.
• Experience with CMMS and preventive maintenance programs.
• Ability to read technical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
• Proactive, detail-oriented with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain plant equipment and building infrastructure per specifications, ensuring cGMP compliance.
• Diagnose problems, replace parts, test, and adjust as needed.
• Understand electrical wiring and installation; maintain safety.
• Maintain CMMS records and inventory.
• Coordinate with Quality and follow change controls and work orders.
• Support Building Management System (BMS) coordination for environmental controls.
• Communicate status to internal teams and vendors; coordinate with external resources.
• Assist with on-call or weekend maintenance as required.

About the Job

Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the facility and equipment supporting sterile pharmaceutical production at the Canton, MA facility. This role requires hands‑on technical skills, attention to detail, and strict adherence to cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.

The ideal candidate has experience in regulated manufacturing environments, a strong mechanical or electrical background, and a proactive approach to preventive and corrective maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain plant equipment and building infrastructure per manufacture specifications, SOP’s incompliance with cGMP’s
• Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make appropriate adjustments
• Strong understanding of electrical wiring and installation
• Ensure facility and equipment are kept clean, in a safe, and serviceable condition
• Interface and augment Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Maintain spare parts inventory, order, and restock as required
• Partners with Quality and follows the necessary procedures (change controls, work orders, investigation, etc.) associated with building equipment and infrastructure
• Understands and monitors Building Management System (BMS) and coordination with Environmental Monitoring on temperature, relative humidity, and pressures issues.
• Communicates with internal departments, customers, and vendors on status of work and issues effecting services
• Coordinate tasks and scheduling with vendor resources
• Facilitate office and small equipment moves
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
• 3+ years of maintenance experience in a regulated manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment (503B, 503A, medical device, or biotech preferred).
• Working knowledge of cGMP, FDA, and cleanroom operational standards.
• Demonstrated experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and limited automation systems.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Availability for occasional on-call or weekend maintenance support.
• Attention to Detail – Maintains precise records and ensures work meets stringent regulatory and quality standards.
• Technical Aptitude – Demonstrates hands‑on expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining complex systems in a controlled environment.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Anything over 50 pounds will require a team lift.
• The specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
