Job summary

Town of Braintree is seeking a Facilities Laborer to perform routine manual labor for building and grounds maintenance in multiple town locations. The role includes cleaning, minor repairs, and assisting skilled trades as needed.

The position requires physical work, ability to operate heating systems, and willingness to work varied shifts and outdoors in different weather conditions. High school diploma and basic maintenance experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduation with six months of varied experience in janitorial, custodial or maintenance work.
• Experience in public works, landscaping, painting, tiling, grounds maintenance or equivalent experience.
• Must possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's license; Class B with air brake endorsement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and repetitive manual labor on care and maintenance tasks.
• May be assigned to various Town locations.
• Sweeps, dusts, cleans, polishes, and maintains rooms and fixtures.
• Operates boilers and maintains steam pressure for heating.
• Assists in repairs and minor maintenance at handyman level.
• Cleans sidewalks, lawns, and outdoor areas; shovels snow and sands walks.
