Responsibilities include installing 460V motors, troubleshooting control circuits and PLCs, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring SQF/GMP compliance.

Qualifications

Facilities Maintenance Technician (Columbus OH; Springfield, OH)

Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Business Title: Maintenance Certified Master Technician

Salary Range: $23.37 - $37.00 Hourly

Status: Non Exempt

Days/Shifts: Various Shift Available

Location: Springfield, OH

Reports to: Facilities Manager

General Description / Primary Purpose

The Maintenance Certified Master Technician performs tasks to maintain, install and troubleshoot food processing equipment, motors, starters, and building infrastructure (overhead doors/docks, HVAC, pallet wrappers). This position will support the production process by reducing equipment down time through accurate and effective trouble shooting and making equipment repairs in a timely manner.

Major Responsibilities and Tasks / Duties of the Position
  • Ensure the integrity and continued operation of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate chlorine and ammonia systems.
  • Tig weld stainless steel in a sanitary environment.
  • Adhere to all policies, practices, and SOP’s related to producing Safe Quality Food (SQF), and GMP’s.
  • Repair/finish drywall and paint.
  • Install 460V motors, starters, and disconnects.
  • Install and troubleshoot control circuits, panels, and program PLC’s.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on docks and doors.
  • Must understand 1000CFM air compressor systems, including air dryers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Specific Competencies
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of Maintenance experience.
  • Must have HVAC experience to be able to diagnose and/or repair equipment as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operation instructions, installation manuals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Must have excellent electrical skills including VFD’s, control circuits, and ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions, maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
Physical Requirements
  • This position is considered to be “Safety Sensitive” which requires the passing of an independently administered drug scree.
  • Mobility to work in a typical shop, mechanical room, or related maintenance setting, including operating typical trade equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb and work in confined or awkward spaces for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment, to work in a cold environment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds. Able to work in a cold environment (35* on Plant floor).
Work Hour & Travel Requirements
  • Must be able to respond to emergencies after hours.
  • Must be able to drive short distances to pick up supplies.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
Experience and Education
  • Trade School Certificate, Associates/Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
