Job summary

Rochester Motor Cars is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician to maintain buildings, production equipment, electrical systems, HVAC, and related facility systems. The role includes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and general upkeep to ensure a safe and reliable work environment.

The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently, communicating with the Facilities Manager and team members to keep operations running

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2–3 years facility maintenance experience.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
  • General familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems and maintenance tools.
  • Experience with electrical control circuits and motor controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility and production equipment.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot low-pressure boilers and related boiler room equipment.
  • Maintain buildings, grounds, utilities, and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs and assist with installation and improvement projects.
  • Inspect, oversee, and follow up on existing work orders and maintenance projects.
  • Assist with equipment rigging, relocation, replacement, and new equipment installations.
  • Identify potential equipment and facility issues and recommend appropriate repairs, improvements, and capital projects.
  • Assist with obtaining bids, evaluating proposed improvements, and securing necessary approvals.
  • Maintain facility and code compliance requirements to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and serve as a liaison to ensure work is completed according to established vendor processes.
  • Keep management informed of the status and progress of maintenance projects.
  • Assist with general facility cleanup, special projects, and other duties as needed.

Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the organization's buildings, production equipment, electrical systems, HVAC equipment, and other facility systems. This position performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and general facility upkeep to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient work environment.

The ideal candidate is a skilled, dependable, and self-motivated maintenance professional who can work independently, troubleshoot problems effectively, and communicate clearly with the Facilities Manager and other team members.

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility and production equipment.

Electrical
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, including high- and low-voltage equipment, within the scope of applicable licensing and training.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control circuits, motor controls, and related components.
  • Inspect and monitor electrical systems for safety and code compliance.
  • Identify deficiencies and communicate recommended repairs or improvements.
  • Assist with electrical installation and hookup of new equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and related technical documentation.
HVAC
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units (RTUs).
  • Monitor HVAC equipment and identify issues requiring repair or additional service.
Preventative Maintenance & Work Orders
  • Monitor the maintenance ticket/work-order system and respond to requests in a timely manner.
  • Track and complete scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Inspect existing work orders and ensure assigned work is completed appropriately.
  • Document completed work through accurate and detailed work orders and maintenance reports.
  • Procure parts and materials as needed in coordination with the Facilities Manager.
  • Keep the Facilities Manager informed of equipment conditions, facility issues, completed work, and items requiring additional direction.
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities and tasks with the Facilities Manager.
Safety & Compliance
  • Perform all work in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Follow applicable building, electrical, mechanical, and workplace safety codes and regulations.
  • Help maintain facility compliance and identify potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate safety concerns, equipment deficiencies, and facility issues promptly.
  • Stay current on applicable codes, regulations, and safe work practices.
Required Qualifications

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Lift and carry at least 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier items with assistance.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights, including rooftop access.
  • Stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, and reach overhead for extended periods.
  • Work in hot, cold, dusty, wet, and noisy environments.
  • Safely work around production machinery, electrical systems, tools, and other facility equipment.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance and repair tasks for extended periods.
