Job summary

UES is a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting and materials testing. The Facilities Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs the physical infrastructure of a building or facility, performing routine inspections and supporting various trades to ensure safe, efficient operation.

Responsibilities include basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and safety work, with some projects such as painting, drywall, carpentry, fixture installation and furniture moves.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; related maintenance vocational training preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, or HVAC maintenance.
• Ability to use standard power tools and basic computer literacy.
• Effective reading, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Mathematical skills sufficient to work with units of measure.

• Performs basic and routine facilities maintenance, construction, and repair inspections and walkthroughs.
• Installs and maintains mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste systems.
• Assists with miscellaneous facility projects including painting, drywall, carpentry, fixtures, leaks, and moving items.
• Uses a work order system to log activities as required.
• Works with trades contractors to complete projects or repairs.
• Troubleshoots problems and follows safety standards and procedures.

• Performs basic and routine facilities maintenance, construction, and repair inspections and walkthroughs.
• Installs and maintains mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management systems.
• Assists with miscellaneous facility projects including, but not limited to, painting, drywall, carpentry, installation of fixtures, leak repair, and moving furniture or materials within the facility.
• Utilizes a work order system to log activities as required.
• Works with or assists trades contractors to complete projects or complex repairs.
• Troubleshoots problems and follows all operating, service, quality, and safety standards and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, related maintenance vocational training preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (subject to Motor Vehicle Record Check).
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, or HVAC maintenance preferred.
• Ability to use standard power tools and office equipment, including basic computer literacy.
• Effective reading, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Standard computer skills and the ability to learn specific software for inputting data and preparing reports.
• Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure.

Travel Requirements

• This position does not require regular travel as part of its primary responsibilities. However, occasional travel may be required, up to 10%, primarily for occasional off-site meetings, training sessions, or company events.

Travel, when necessary, will be communicated in advance and aligned with business needs

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to heat, cold, and adverse weather conditions.
• Lifting and/or occasionally moving up to 75 lbs. can be expected.
• Required to drive, stand, walk; use hands to type, handle, or feel; climb or balance; talk and hear.
• Body movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing.
