Job summary

Grand Valley State University is seeking Maintenance staff for 2nd and 3rd shifts in Grand Rapids. The roles involve conference set-ups, furniture movement, general maintenance including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and repairs; plus receiving and delivering items and campus security duties.

You will be expected to provide quality service to faculty, staff, students, and visitors, and to work as an essential employee.

Qualifications

• Able to read and interpret instructions, labels, safety precautions.
• Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Complete lift training and obtain certification, as provided by the University.
• Willingness to work off shifts, holidays, and overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Conference set-ups, furniture movement, and general maintenance (minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, repairs).
• Receiving and delivering items, general policing of properties, and related duties.
• Provide quality customer service to faculty, staff, students, and campus visitors.
• Be assigned as an essential employee; use email, smart devices, and work order systems.
• Attend safety meetings and related meetings; lift up to 50 pounds; use ladders and lifts.
