Job summary

Slate is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Planner – CMMS to oversee planning, scheduling, and documentation of maintenance activities across facilities in the USA. You will manage work orders in the CMMS, coordinate labor and materials, and align schedules with operational needs while driving PM programs and continuous improvement.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or facilities maintenance operations.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS platforms and maintenance workflows.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with digital reporting systems and dashboards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance work orders in the CMMS for facilities and building systems.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, tools, and external resources to ensure effective execution of maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with maintenance supervisors, technicians, and facilities leadership to align maintenance schedules with operational needs.
  • Monitor maintenance backlog and schedule compliance, recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Take an active role in building, developing, and maintaining a new CMMS project.
  • Maintain accurate asset, equipment, and maintenance records within the CMMS.
  • Ensure work orders are properly documented, updated, and closed in accordance with procedures.
  • Support CMMS standardization, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with CMMS user training and adherence to established processes.
  • Develop, review, and optimize preventive maintenance (PM) plans based on manufacturer recommendations, regulatory requirements, and operational experience.
  • Track PM completion rates and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Prepare routine maintenance metrics and reports, including work order status, PM compliance, backlog, and downtime.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support reliability, cost-control, and continuous improvement initiatives within Facilities Maintenance.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Facilities Maintenance Planner – CMMS is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and documenting facilities maintenance activities through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This role supports preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs to improve asset reliability, minimize downtime, and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facilities operations. This position reports to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance work orders in the CMMS for facilities and building systems.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, tools, and external resources to ensure effective execution of maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with maintenance supervisors, technicians, and facilities leadership to align maintenance schedules with operational needs.
  • Monitor maintenance backlog and schedule compliance, recommending adjustments as needed.
CMMS Administration and Data Management
  • Take an active role in the building, development, and maintaining a new CMMS project.
  • Maintain accurate asset, equipment, and maintenance records within the CMMS.
  • Ensure work orders are properly documented, updated, and closed in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Support CMMS standardization, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with CMMS user training and adherence to established processes.
Preventive Maintenance Program Support
  • Develop, review, and optimize preventive maintenance (PM) plans based on manufacturer recommendations, regulatory requirements, and operational experience.
  • Work with engineers and vendors to develop these plans.
  • Track PM completion rates and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
  • Prepare routine maintenance metrics and reports, including work order status, PM compliance, backlog, and downtime.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support reliability, cost‑control, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Facilities Maintenance Department.
Safety, Compliance, and Collaboration
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure maintenance planning aligns with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits, inspections, and documentation requirements related to facilities maintenance.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or facilities maintenance operations.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS platforms and maintenance workflows.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with digital reporting systems and dashboards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with facilities systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.
  • Experience supporting centralized or multi‑site maintenance operations.
  • Maintenance planning, reliability, or facilities management certifications (e.g., CMRP, RCM).
Working Conditions

Primarily office‑based with regular interaction in facilities or plant environments. Occasional off‑hours support may be required to meet operational needs.

Salary Range

The compensation for this position is the range Slate reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job‑related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; work location; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual) 85,430.91 - 128,146.37 USD

The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in the equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
