MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.

We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.

We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Facilities and Maintenance Manager to be an integral part of building and operating a new metal, alloy, and magnet-making facility in Fort Worth, Texas. This is a rare opportunity to have a vital role in the development of a greenfield advanced manufacturing facility and helping to define the future of American manufacturing. This position will require strong organizational, process, and management skills to build a maintenance team and maintenance management systems, and a hands‑on nature to support the installation and lead the ongoing maintenance of all equipment in the facility.

The new facility has a mix of office, laboratory, pilot, and manufacturing spaces, and will contain a broad range of chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal processes, including high temperature chemistry, handling of molten metals, powder metallurgy, machining, and assembly. The Maintenance Manager must engage with a range of technical specialists to gain a working understanding of the physical processes, key control metrics, and potential hazards involved. The individual will be accountable for achieving functional goals, establishing financial plans that are consistent with the business needs, and supplying best-in-class maintenance service through the execution of an effective maintenance excellence program.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize maintenance schedules while minimizing impact on production.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance projects, including shutdowns and turnarounds, ensuring timely completion within budget constraints.
  • Monitor equipment performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements to meet OEE targets and further enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Maintain and update maintenance records, work orders, and documentation to ensure accurate historical records and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Identify training needs for maintenance staff and facilitate skill development and training programs.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and provide cost‑effective solutions for maintenance and repair projects.
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures and incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and advancements in maintenance techniques.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of production equipment in a new greenfield facility.
  • Maintain and repair office, laboratory, and manufacturing facility, grounds, and infrastructure.
  • Work with procurement and engineering teams to build critical spares lists and maintain appropriate inventory and contingencies.
  • Document and maintain safe work instructions for the repair of equipment and facilities.
  • Work closely with EHS to ensure that all work is done to ensure world class health and safety, and full compliance with relevant environmental regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), with SAP experience preferred, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to address maintenance emergencies or operational needs.
