Job summary

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Repair worker at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, OH. The role oversees inmate staff, coordinates semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks, and performs electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and related repairs to maintain a secure, functional facility.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, inspections, tool security, and emergency response.

Qualifications

• 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in maintenance repair (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment).
• Formal education in arithmetic including addition & subtraction and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• Valid commercial driver’s license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by Ohio law; firefighter course may be required for certain roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead workers and provide direction and training to inmates or staff in semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks.
• Perform maintenance repair of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and related equipment.
• Inspect buildings and equipment to identify needed repairs or replacements.
• Carry out preventive maintenance in assigned areas.
• Operate machine tools and welding equipment for metal repairs.
• Ensure tools are secured and inventories are accurate.
• Assist in related crafts as required and support institutional operations.
• Manage inmate movement and conduct searches when security is at risk.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in meetings and institutional committees.
