Job summary

Career Systems Development Corporation seeks an instructor for Job Corps to educate youth ages 16-24 in construction and related maintenance trades. You will lead a class of up to 12 students, deliver safety and hands-on training, and collaborate with other instructors to design project-based activities.

The role emphasizes mentorship, classroom management, and maintaining a productive learning environment while documenting student progress and ensuring clean, orderly classrooms.

Qualifications

• At least four years in construction/building maintenance, or three years as a certified vocational teacher.
• Hands-on experience preferred if not state-certified in construction trades.
• Ability to teach diverse skill levels and document progress.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to a class of up to 12 students at various skill levels.
• Deliver instruction in Safety, Environmental Awareness and Green Building, and related trades.
• Collaborate with academic instructors to develop project-based activities.
• Mentor students to create a positive learning environment and engagement.
• Maintain classroom testing integrity and document student performance and progress.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and perform duties as assigned.

Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm

Duties / Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to a class of up to 12 students at various skill levels
• Deliver instruction and demonstration in the areas of: Safety, Environmental Awareness and Green Building, Hand and Power Tool Safety, Blueprints, Carpentry Maintenance, Roofing/Drywall/Plaster, Concrete and Masonry Maintenance, Surface Finishing and Sealing, Plumbing Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Building Safety Systems and Environmental Control Systems, Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance, and Employability Skills
• Collaborate with academic instructors to develop project-based learning activities
• Effectively relate to the student population and recognize student success in the classroom
• Provide mentorship to create a positive atmosphere and promote student engagement
• Maintain classroom and testing integrity
• Complete classroom attendance throughout the day
• Document student performance, progress, and concerns
• Maintain adequate classroom cleanliness
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum

At least four years of experience in the construction/building maintenance field or a minimum of three years of experience as a certified teacher in a vocational, technical, construction, or maintenance training program. No teaching experience required, however, if candidate is not state certified he/she must have practical experience in the general construction and building maintenance areas.

Preferred

Minimum plus Job Corps experience, Extensive practical knowledge of trade and teaching or classroom management experience.
