Job summary

Abused Women's Aid in Crisis invites applications for a Facilities Care Specialist to keep all AWAIC buildings—administrative offices, emergency shelter, and housing facilities—clean, safe, and well-maintained. You will handle cleaning, minor repairs, groundskeeping, supply management, and coordinate with the Facilities Manager on priorities.

This role requires 1 year janitorial/groundskeeping and 3 years facilities maintenance, along with a Alaska driver’s license, clean background checks, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current State of Alaska Driving License and clean driving record.
• Ability to clear and maintain stringent federal, state, and local background clearances.
• 1 year janitorial and groundskeeping experience.
• 3 years general facilities maintenance experience (commercial/residential).
• Proficient use of computers and standard office equipment; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes common areas, offices, bathrooms, and other spaces.
• Empties trash/recycling and maintains refuse areas.
• Replenishes janitorial supplies and disposables.
• Responds to work orders and performs scheduled cleaning and basic maintenance.
• Maintains grounds, sidewalks, entrances, and exterior spaces; winter maintenance as needed.
• Performs minor repairs (painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical) and basic maintenance tasks.
• Operates cleaning equipment safely and coordinates with vendors/contractors as needed.
• Supports safety drills and maintains OSHA documentation.
