Job summary

Corning is seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance professional to provide electrical/controls support for manufacturing operations and facilities.

You will troubleshoot a range of systems including motors, starters, fans, pumps, UPS, VFDs, PLCs, and fire alarm systems, while calibrating instrumentation and assisting project teams.

Qualifications

  • You must have a two-year electrical/electronics degree and 2–5 years electrical experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints, block diagrams, piping diagrams, ladder logic, and motor drawings.
  • Experience with plant electrical assessment processes and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with Dashboard, PI, or SPC.
  • Willingness to work alternating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical/controls support to manufacturing facilities equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, starters, fans, pumps, UPS, VFDs, PLCs, and medium voltage distribution.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot digital/analog instrumentation.
  • Provide technical assistance to project teams.
  • Monitor and optimize facilities processes.

The purpose of this position is:

Provide electrical maintenance support for manufacturing operations and facilities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Providing electrical / controls support to facilities equipment.
  • Performing troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems including but not limited to motors, starters, fans, pumps, UPS, VFDs, PLC controls, fire alarm systems, generators, breakers, and medium voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Calibrating and troubleshooting digital and analog instrumentation.
  • Providing technical assistance to project teams.
  • Helping monitor and optimize facilities processes.
  • Applicant Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
Required:
  • A two-year electrical or electronics degree with a minimum of two years of electrical industrial experience or 5 years electrical experience in lieu of degree.
  • This position requires a strong electrical background. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints, block diagrams, piping diagrams, ladder logic, schematic diagrams, electrical power distribution diagrams, P&ID, loop sheets, and motor elementary drawings.
  • Successful completion of plant electrical assessment process.
  • Some familiarity with Dashboard, PI, or SPC.
  • Candidate must be willing to work alternating shifts, including nights/weekends/holidays.
Preferred:
  • Experience with Computer / PLC controls, HMI, & associated components.
  • Experience with industrial systems such as air compressors, chillers, vacuum systems (operation or troubleshooting).
  • Root cause analysis techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others and participate in teams.
  • Electrical contractor’s license, NFPA70e electrical safety certified, experience with wire pulling/conduit bending.
  • Certified or Licensed Electrician.
Working Conditions:
  • Some issues with fumes, noise, oil, dirt, heat and cold temperatures. At times must be able to exert a force of 36 to 100 pounds and lift 5 to 50 pounds. Ability to use ladders and work at heights above 6 feet.
Licenses & Certifications:
  • Electrical License and/or Electrical Certifications.
Experience:
  • 2-5 years of electrical experience.

The range for this position is $31.50 hourly rate - $35.75 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
