Job summary

Shelter House in Fairfax County seeks a Maintenance & Custodial Technician to oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of the Fair Ridge Family Shelter. You will report to the Assistant Director of Shelter Operations and work with facilities teams and contractors to keep the facility safe and well-maintained.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and willingness to work evenings or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties to maintain clean, safe, and well‑functioning spaces throughout the shelter.
• Coordinate with maintenance contractors and vendors, escorting them as needed.
• Maintain a log of maintenance requests and completed work for accountability.
• Assist with groundskeeping, inventory, and safe storage of supplies and equipment.
• Ensure safety procedures and infection-control practices are followed at all times.
• Provide custodial support during staffing shortages or emergencies to maintain operations.
