Job summary

Metropolitan Market is seeking a Maintenance Helper Clerk to support the Maintenance Department in keeping the store facilities clean and fully functional. The role involves interior and exterior maintenance, equipment care, and hoisting a safety-first culture for staff and customers.

The position emphasizes adherence to health codes, timely completion of tasks, and collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor to maintain esthetics and safety across the store.

Qualifications

• One year experience in cleaning, maintenance, and industry related light repair work required.
• One year experience in professional mechanical/electrical/plumbing role preferred.
• General knowledge of industry related cleaning tools, solutions, and MSDS experience preferred.
• Demonstrates an understanding of basic health and sanitation requirements.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality output while working within deadlines a must.

Responsibilities

• Maintains interior and exterior store areas; ensures safety, cleanliness, and proper working order of facilities and equipment.
• Prioritizes workload to meet general maintenance needs with urgency.
• Keeps knowledge of store layout and equipment usage up to date.
• Adheres to HACCP and health department requirements; maintains safety awareness.
• Fosters positive team morale and follows supervision guidance; participates in meetings as required.
• Maintains a safe environment for customers and employees; reports hazards promptly.
