Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Facilities Lead Technician to oversee maintenance and repair of machinery and facility systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance. You will diagnose issues, perform repairs, and document activities to support uptime.

The role emphasizes leading training, implementing preventive maintenance, supporting installations, and mentoring technicians while coordinating with production and engineering to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in machine maintenance or related field, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Ability to use MEWP (boom and scissor lifts)
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers and automated systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct technical training programs for maintenance technicians, focusing on technical skills, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques to diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Design, implement, and optimize preventive maintenance programs to proactively reduce equipment failures and unplanned downtime.
  • Support equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvement projects.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Share technical knowledge across the maintenance team (Machine Maintenance and Facility Maintenance).
  • Ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Provide technical support during equipment breakdowns, ensuring facility systems and infrastructure are maintained to support safe operations and minimal disruption.
  • Enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies through audits, coaching, and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and other stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and prioritize work orders.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging maintenance technologies and recommend improvements where applicable.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to maintenance technicians to support technical development and career growth.
  • Serve as a point of contact for maintenance emergencies and coordinate rapid response efforts to minimize downtime.

POSITION SUMMARY

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience in machine maintenance or a related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Ability to use MEWP (boom and scissor lifts)
  • Strong technical expertise in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers and automated systems is preferred.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and use of ladders or lifts.
  • Occasional kneeling, crawling, or working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in varying weather conditions.
  • Participate in on-call or emergency maintenance rotation, if required.
  • Work from ladders, MEWPs. Or elevated platforms.
