Job summary

SanMar is seeking a Facilities III, DC Maintenance Technician in Ohio to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment, and to perform general maintenance and janitorial duties as needed.

You will perform preventive maintenance, coordinate external contractors, operate warehouse equipment, and ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines in a fast-paced distribution center. The shift is 9:00pm–5:30am, and overtime may be required on weekends.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years of facility maintenance experience including hand and power tools.
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance and custodial principles, procedures and standards.
  • May require Lift Operator Certification per OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical building equipment; inspect belts, fluids, filters, bearings and seals.
  • Coordinate external contractors/vendors for installation, commissioning and maintenance.
  • Complete maintenance checklists and maintain records.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve operational issues.
  • May operate equipment and control panels; repair electrical locks and panels.

What's the Short Version?

The Facilities III, DC is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. They also perform general maintenance and janitorial duties as needed.

What Will You Be Doing?
  • Perform minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspect belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, grease bearings, seals, etc.; repair or replace broken parts.
  • Coordinate external contractors/vendors involved in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of building systems.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements; maintain all required HAZMAT records including maintenance.
  • Respond in a professional and timely manner to management and internal customer inquiries and research and resolves problems related to a facility's operational issues.
  • May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
  • May repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Assist with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repair plaster and drywall; paint building structures.
  • Perform outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required.
  • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; order parts as needed.
  • Make recommendations to programs or ideas to improve Maintenance.
  • May be required to operate powered lift equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
What Are We Looking For?
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years of facility maintenance experience is required to include most of the duties and responsibilities as listed above and use of hand and power tools.
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment is preferred.
  • Excellent organization, ability to prioritize daily responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance and custodial principles, procedures, and standards.
  • May be required to complete and maintain SanMar's Lift Operator Certification in compliance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Self-motivator; needs to take initiative.
  • Able to work both independently and within a team.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow directions and change priorities or job duties as business needs require; support or rotate to other production functions as needed.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Responsible for checking out equipment and returning it in the same condition.
  • Responsive to staff needs, demonstrating professionalism, respect, and consideration of others always.
  • Comprehend verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Overtime as required, which may include weekends.
What Should You Expect?

DC Warehouse (Equipment): While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 60 pounds. The employee operates powered equipment requiring use of both hands as well as full range of motion of the neck, head and back. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, grasp and perform repetitive hand, wrist and arm motions. The employee is frequently required to climb stairs, kneel/squat, bend and carry. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to wear a headset covering one or both ears. Employee will be required to wear Personal protective equipment such as a Protective harness while operating equipment. Basic English literacy is required for operation of machines and necessary daily paperwork. Work environment is moderately noisy. The employee is occasionally required to work near conveyor systems. There is exposure to dust and changes in weather conditions. Work is performed under typical warehouse conditions. Potential hazards exist with regard to machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, mechanized systems, etc. Work environment is hectic and fast-paced. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and can be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions.
