Job summary

The New York State Office of Mental Health is seeking a facilities attendant to maintain cleanliness across patient living areas and wards, ensuring Joint Commission standards are met. You will also support outdoor campus maintenance and assist in snow removal and event setup as needed.

Responsibilities include trash and infectious waste handling, linen processing, and operating a range of floor care and light construction equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
• Applicant must possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of patient living areas and wards to meet Joint Commission standards.
• Move heavy furniture.
• Trash removal and cleaning of infectious waste and bodily fluids.
• Handle soiled linen and clean linen laundry.
• Operate self-propelled and motorized equipment (burnishers, walk‑behind floor scrubbers, lawn mowers, pumps, compressors, vehicles, small trucks, light construction equipment).
• Clean debris, garbage and hazards across the outside campus.
• Assist in snow removal with Work Control Department for walkways and sidewalks.
• Assist with outdoor event setups ( tents, signage, tables, blood drives).
