Job summary

LaSalle Lumber Company is seeking an engineer to support operating areas and projects, applying technical engineering knowledge and project management skills to optimize facilities for safety, reliability, and value.

The role focuses on instrumentation, control devices, electrical power systems, and process automation to improve plant efficiency and asset integrity. A bachelor’s in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Eng and 2+ years of relevant experience are required.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably plant or mill experience.
  • Experience in Industrial Control Systems, process controls networking.

Job description

This position will be expected to support operating areas and projects through the application of technical engineering knowledge and project management skills. These areas of support may include:

  • Optimizing facilities to deliver maximum value safely and reliably.
  • Proficient in supporting operations and maintenance at LaSalle Lumber Company.
  • Providing technical engineering support for turnarounds and projects.
  • Developing and/or deploying industry leading technologies to reduce carbon, increase efficiency and maximize returns.
  • Using digitalization and data analytics to improve process operations and safety.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Excellent people skills, oral and written communication with outstanding organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interact effectively in multi person office environment. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks is required. Must be able to give attention to detail.
  • Must be able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping with various tasks/reporting as required.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Position will combine formal training, on the job competency development, mentoring, and multiple job assignments.
  • Position will develop competencies for designing and maintaining instrumentation and control devices and electrical power systems and equipment. This would support activities ranging from process control networks and process automation systems to optimize plants, operating larger power systems and generators, assuring power system integrity and reliability, and monitoring power systems for efficient power management.
  • Position will review production schedules, design specifications, workflows, and other information to understand and adjust the processes to make them more efficient.
  • Position must be focused on asset integrity, reliability, maintainability, and operability of operating assets. Identify hazards, assess risk, and develop mitigation strategies through application of engineering design principles to a managed level of risk for operating facilities and capital projects.
  • Expectations will be to deliver high quality designs and predictable execution of projects through the development and application of sound engineering and design principles and processes.
  • Support operating facilities through application of broad fundamental technical engineering knowledge and small project execution skills

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in either Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably plant or mill experience
  • Experience in Industrial Control Systems, process controls networking
