Job summary

PPG is seeking a Plant Facilities Engineer to plan, manage, and maintain the physical infrastructure and utility systems within a manufacturing plant. You will ensure safe, efficient operations compliant with regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities include overseeing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, utilities, and capital projects, plus preventive maintenance and contractor management. Strong PM, organizational, and cross-functional skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (or related field).
• Experience: 3–7 years in facilities or plant engineering within manufacturing.
• Technical: Building systems knowledge (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), AutoCAD or similar, CMMS, and PM tools.

• Manage plant utility systems: compressed air, steam, water treatment, natural gas, electrical distribution.

Job description

A Plant Facilities Engineer is responsible for the planning, management, and maintenance of all physical infrastructure and utility systems within a manufacturing plant. This role ensures that buildings, utilities, and facility systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilities Management: Oversee the maintenance and operation of plant buildings, structures, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and other infrastructure.
• Utilities Management: Manage plant utility systems including compressed air, steam, water treatment, natural gas, and electrical distribution.
• Capital Projects: Plan, coordinate, and execute facility improvement and expansion projects from concept through commissioning.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for all facility-related equipment and systems.
• Contractor Management: Source, manage, and oversee external contractors and vendors for facility-related services and projects.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all facility operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations including building codes, fire safety, and environmental standards.
• EHS Support: Partner with the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team to maintain a safe working environment and support audits and inspections.
• Budget Management: Develop and manage the facilities maintenance and capital budget; identify cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (or related field).
• Experience: 3-7 years of experience in facilities engineering or plant engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), AutoCAD or similar design tools, CMMS platforms, and project management tools.
• Certifications (preferred): Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Professional Engineer (PE) license, or LEED accreditation.
• Soft Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.

The base salary for this position is $110,000 to $130,000.
