Job summary

Freese and Nichols, Inc. is seeking a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer to join its Texas offices in Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, or Houston.

You'll analyze existing electrical systems, design power distribution and lighting, and guide projects from planning through construction while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring compliance with codes and budgets. This role offers a hybrid schedule with remote work possibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 4+ years of experience in facility engineering.
  • Experience across planning, design, and construction.
  • Experience working with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze electrical systems and recommend cost-effective improvements.

  • Perform site visits, witness testing, and support construction‑phase services.

Job description

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer in Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, or Houston, Texas.

What You’ll Do
  • Analyze existing electrical systems and recommend cost-effective improvements and modifications.
  • Design complete electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, generator systems, and controls for building systems.
  • Develop project designs from planning through construction, including equipment evaluation and field verification.
  • Perform site visits, witness testing, and support construction‑phase services.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with technical accuracy.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers in design development and professional growth.
  • Provide quality control reviews for design documents to ensure technical adequacy.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 4+ years of experience in facility engineering.
  • Experience across project phases including planning, design, and construction.
  • Experience working with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in electrical power, lighting, and generator design for building electrical systems.
  • Ability to be licensed as a PE in other U.S. states.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and construction documents.
  • Proficiency in Revit.
