Job summary

Sacaton Elementary School District No. 18 is seeking an experienced Administrative - Exempt position in Facilities to lead maintenance and custodial operations across district facilities.

Summary

To work in a partnership with students, staff, parents and the community in accordance with the district's vision and mission to promote student achievement for children who have disabilities. Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must pass a character reference check as well as state and community fingerprint screening
  • May be required to submit to a drug test
  • Experience in and knowledgeable of the management aspects relating to custodial and maintenance procedures:
    • Refrigeration Units
    • Plumbing
    • Electrician
    • Water well maintenance
    • Grounds keeping
    • Experiences in and knowledge of sound management procedures
    • Ability to assign and evaluate staff
    • Ability to develop and direct and effective custodial team
    • Ability to provide leadership and possess personnel management qualities
    • Skilled leadership development of plant management
    • Personal qualifications include an energetic personality, good health, skill in decision-making and ability to meet people well.
  • Professional development should include a high school diploma and a strong background in maintenance training, especially in refrigeration units.
  • Must demonstrate aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities and alternatives as specified by the supervisor
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
Key Responsibilities

Position Type: Administrative - Exempt Reports to: Superintendent

  • Assumes responsibility for the comprehensive overall planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair requirements of the district (see attached list).
  • Assist in the recruitment, employment, assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of maintenance/custodial and transportation personnel.
  • Organizes and implements an orientation program on proper operation and maintenance of school facilities for departmental personnel.
  • Examines school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance.
  • Consults with building principals regarding the establishment of regular preventative maintenance programs.
  • Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.
  • Estimates cost of repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
  • Schedules work routines for departmental personnel.
  • Develops and submits the department budget under the general direction of the Business Manager and exercises budgetary control over the adopted budget.
  • Coordinates all purchase requirements.
  • Supervises and approves payment of all outside contractors performing work for the district.
  • Plans and directs the inventory of stock control program for performing work for the district.
  • Confers with school principals, landscape architects, and other parties in making plans for landscaping, planning, and maintenance of various school grounds.
  • Monitors the time records of all custodial employees in the school and certifies them for salary payments.
  • Evaluates the performance of assigned personnel and plans and provides in-service training as required.
  • Conducts a continuing program of staff training and personnel development.
  • Calls meetings of the custodial staff when it is deemed necessary for purposes of training or morale.
  • Coordinates vacation schedules for departmental personnel.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent.

Skill, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include Operating equipment used in skilled trades, power and hand tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; and planning and managing projects.

KNOWLEDGE is required to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes variety of skilled trades and safety

ABILITY is required to gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines & schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with constant & sustained interruptions.

Physical Requirements
