Job summary

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) is hiring a Custodian to clean and maintain facilities on a set schedule, including event turnover. This role requires reliable, independent work with attention to safety and customer service, and offers weekly pay, on-site clinics, and health benefits.

Starting pay is $18.50 per hour with a $1,500 sign-on bonus; additional compensation is based on shift and experience. Shifts include Thursday-Monday and Monday-Friday options.

Qualifications

• No minimum education requirements.
• Ability to read and speak English clearly.
• Valid Class D driver’s license is required with a good driving record.
• Proficiency in maintaining safety while handling potential fumes, chemicals, odors, and/or noise.
• Ability to move in a variety of motions including bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, twisting, pulling, and/ or pushing.
• Capacity to handle and lift up to 60 lbs. as needed.
• Has the physical abilities to perform the required job duties with or without accommodations, including on feet 100% of time.

Responsibilities

• Maintain impeccable cleanliness in all areas, including surfaces, floors, restrooms, and common areas in accordance with established protocols and schedules.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and company policies. Follow OSHA policies and procedures. Know and understand MDSD information. Ensure all chemicals and equipment are kept out of reach of children, customer, team members, etc.
• Communicate effectively with customers, children, and employees, keeping high quality customer service and confidentiality as the primary consideration.
• Report any maintenance issues or cleaning equipment malfunctions to the Supervisor.
• Assist other team members when needed.
• Performs additional duties as needed, including providing cleaning services and turnover for special events such as weddings, funerals, etc. Must be available to work weekends and events that may arise with little notice.

• Thursday-Monday: 4:00am-12:30pm
• Monday- Friday: 10:00-6:30

Job Overview:

Cleans and maintains facilities ensuring that written cleaning service standards are met for set work schedule. Assists in, room setups and other duties as assigned. Occasional special events, weddings, funerals, Wacipi, etc.
