Cornerstone Construction Group is seeking an experienced crew leader or carpenter to perform and lead commercial renovation, repair, and facility maintenance work throughout Michigan and Ohio.
This is a hands-on working lead position for an experienced carpenter who can complete skilled work, direct crew members, coordinate with subcontractors when needed, and maintain high standards for safety, quality, and professionalism.
This position requires regular regional travel and overnight work. Company-provided lodging, travel accommodations, a vehicle, tools, and per diem are provided for traveling assignments.
What You'll Do
- Perform and lead general and finish carpentry work
- Install and repair cabinetry, millwork, and shelving
- Complete drywall, tile, grout, and ceiling repairs
- Perform painting, caulking, framing, and light masonry work
- Install and replace fixtures and signage
- Complete final cleanup and quality finish work
- Lead crew members and coordinate subcontractors when applicable
- Maintain safe work practices and quality standards on every jobsite
- Participate in pre-dispatch meetings to review project scope and site conditions
- Communicate with the Facilities Project Manager, customers, field technicians, laborers, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Complete required timekeeping and daily project reports
- Support project handoff to customer operations following completion of work
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in carpentry and general construction
- Strong hands-on carpentry and construction skills
- Previous experience leading or directing crews in the field
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability and willingness to work overnight/3rd shift schedules
- Willingness to work occasional weekends
- Ability to travel regularly throughout Michigan and Ohio
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
- Ability to work professionally in active commercial environments
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on construction position. Candidates must be able to:
- Regularly lift and carry 50+ pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Bend, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders
- Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout overnight shifts
- Safely operate construction tools and equipment
- Work in active commercial construction and facility environments
