Job summary

The Salvation Army Denver Red Shield Corps is seeking a Facilities Coordinator to oversee cleaning, care, and maintenance of the Red Shield building and surrounding grounds. You will coordinate with vendors, manage a small fleet, and supervise custodial staff while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

You will lead preventative maintenance for HVAC and building components, log work orders, and report to the Center Director.

Qualifications

Benefits:Standard; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

Position Summary

The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the cleaning, care, and maintenance of the Red Shield building and its surrounding grounds, including our adjacent parking lot at 2910 High St. and the garage lot at 2860 High St. Key responsibilities include performing cleaning and maintenance tasks, coordinating with external vendors as needed, and managing Red Shield’s small fleet of vehicles used for transportation. This position involves significant physical labor along with supervisory duties when required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and janitorial operations, including scheduling custodial staff, obtaining vendor bids, managing service contracts, and coordinating preventive maintenance to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility.
  • Immediately remove graffiti and signs of vandalism.
  • Coordinate task prioritization with Corps Officers and/or the Center Director.
  • Provide the Center Director and Corps Officers with quarterly update reports.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and clutter-free individual work areas and shared spaces throughout the center.
  • Conduct daily inspections of facilities and grounds, identify repair needs, and track work orders, maintenance activities, and repairs using UpKeep software.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate a preventative maintenance program for HVAC systems, facility equipment, and building components based on manufacturer recommendations.
  • Supervise custodial staff, including assigning work, providing ongoing performance feedback, and conducting annual performance evaluations in conjunction with the Center Director.
  • Develop and manage the facility budget, ensuring cost-efficient operations and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
  • Perform and assign custodial duties, including cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, sweeping/mopping floors, dusting, minor repairs, and snow/ice removal.
  • Order, maintain, and track inventories of cleaning supplies, restroom supplies, tools, and equipment; report missing items to the Center Director promptly.
  • Log and maintain building keys.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable state, local, and licensing standards; maintain Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Set up and tear down meeting spaces as requested.
  • Serve as on-site liaison for contractors, inspectors, and fire and police departments.
  • Manage routine vehicle maintenance and ensure registration and insurance information are up to date.
  • Primary Point of Contact and On-Call Support for Emergencies.
  • Serve as a mandatory reporter and complete required child safety training.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants, with special attention to the needs and strengths of the Whittier community.
  • Contribute to seasonal programs like Angel Tree Toy program and Christmas Red Kettles, as needed.

Education/Experience, Skills, Qualities, Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Have at least a high school diploma or GED with two years of related work experience and one year of supervisory experience. A combination of training and experience will be considered.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English for emails, cleaning instructions, and safety documentation (eg. MSDS).

Skills

  • Ability to use a computer, email, and new software programs with basic training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be a self-starter, a team player, and perform well with minimum supervision.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish, preferred.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Proven ability to diagnose and resolve common maintenance issues involving mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems

Requirements
