San José State University’s Facilities Development & Operations team seeks a Facilities Control Specialist to oversee installation, maintenance, and programming of building automation systems that manage complex HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Building Infrastructure Trades, you will troubleshoot, design and implement control strategies, inspect work for code compliance, and mentor colleagues in troubleshooting and calibration of controls across campus.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Building Infrastructure Trades, The Facilities Control Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, adjustment and repair of electric, electronic, pneumatic and digitally controlled building automation systems, which manage the most complex HVAC and refrigeration systems.
The Maintenance & Operations unit of Facilities Development & Operations provides services to a university campus spread across five sites comprised of +167 acres, 85 buildings, and more than six million gross square feet. The HVAC shop is one of seven skilled trades shops within Maintenance & Operations and is comprised of a Facilities Project Supervisor-Mechanical, Lead Building Service Engineer, six Building Service Engineers, four Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Mechanics, two Facilities Maintenance Mechanics, and three Facilities Controls Specialists who provides supervision, oversight, and guidance.
A valid driver’s license is required for this position. Out of state candidates selected for the position must obtain a State of California driver’s license within 10 days of hire in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles regulations.
Once hired the employee must successfully complete the Defensive Driver Training Program provided by the State of California for California State University campuses.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $8,504/month - $9,025/month (Step 13 – Step 16)
CSU Salary Range: $6,705/month - $9,768/month (Step 1 – Step 20)
