Job summary

Army Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) at Fort Irwin, CA is seeking a full-time housekeeping worker to perform cleaning and light maintenance duties on base. The role requires operating cleaning equipment, sanitizing facilities, and stocking supplies, with indoor work conditions and possible exposure to dirt and odors.

Shifts may include mornings, nights, weekends, holidays and special events. Applicants should be 18+ and able to pass pre-employment checks; a one-year probation may apply.

• Must have skills and ability to perform the duties listed above to include the ability to use and maintain the tools and equipment of the trade, to keep assigned work area neat and clean, and to communicate both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, strips and polishes using light and heavy duty powered equipment. Operates industrial equipment to clean rugs, drapes, etc.
• Performs routine maintenance of equipment. Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes toilet facilities. Cleans, and dusts assigned areas. Empties trash.
• Washes walls, windows, blinds and ceiling fixtures using ladders, scaffolds and safety belt. Moves heavy furniture. Maintains stock of room and cleaning supplies to perform assigned duties.
• Works independently under general supervision to accomplish assigned work.
• Works is usually performed indoors in areas that have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Exposed to dirt and disagreeable odors, vibration from use of heavy equipment, and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions.
