Job summary

Murdoch Developmental Center, part of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician II. The role focuses on building maintenance, renovations, and adaptive fabrication for a 24/7 residential facility in Butner, NC.

Qualifications

  • High school or GED diploma and one year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination.
  • Some experience in carpentry work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Experience in commercial/industrial maintenance environment.
  • 2 years’ experience in carpentry work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and renovation of building spaces, including concrete, masonry, vinyl and ceramic tile work.
  • Construct and install doors, cabinetry, and furniture as needed.
  • Repair and install locks, adjust doors, and fabricate adaptive items for clients.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools and heavy equipment as required for maintenance tasks.
