Job summary

Green Dot Public Schools California is seeking a Facilities Associate to provide on-site maintenance for our Los Angeles schools. You will repair building and furniture issues, manage custodial staff, and coordinate with external vendors to keep facilities safe and functional.

Responsibilities include handling work orders, traveling between sites, and responding to emergencies around the clock. The role requires prior maintenance experience and a valid driver’s license in a dynamic school

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade certification/licensing a plus.
  • Ability to perform facility maintenance and light repairs including heating, ventilation, electrical, plumbing, furniture repair, lock repair, drywall, painting, carpet, and roofing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • At least 3 years of experience in facility maintenance with routine use of power tools.
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs. and climb ladders up to 6 ft.

Job description

OPPORTUNITY

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Associate is responsible for providing on-site facility services and day-to-day maintenance for Green Dot’s schools in Los Angeles, CA. Major job responsibilities include maintaining safe and working facilities for our students, employees and visitors, repairing and fixing building and furniture related issues, managing custodial staff, and coordinating with external vendors. Green Dot California classified personnel have union representation as members of the Ánimo Classified Employees Association (ACEA), an affiliate of the California Teachers Association (CTA) and the National Education Association (NEA).

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide facility- and maintenance-related services for all Green Dot schools as assigned
  • Respond to facilities requests in a timely manner using the maintenance work order system; work orders are accurately inputted, scheduled, closed and tracked with superb communication to requestor
  • Proactively identify facilities maintenance needs
  • Ensure custodial staff is maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Ensure school staff are adhering to facilities safety per local and state code requirements and general best practices (extension cords, storage, etc.)
  • Travel between all Green Dot school sites as needed
  • Able to work overtime, Saturdays and Sundays (as needed) in order to serve Green Dot Los Angeles schools
  • Able to respond to any facility-related emergency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with faculty and staff, without direct supervision on some assigned projects
  • Able to assume additional tasks as directed by the Facilities Manager and/or the Director of Facilities
Qualifications
  • have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); trade certification/licensing is a plus
  • have the skills and knowledge to perform facility maintenance activities and light repair, including (but not limited to) those for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, furniture repair, lock repair, drywall, painting/plastering, carpet, and roofs.
  • have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • possess basic computer skills
  • have at least 3 years of experience in the area of facility maintenance, including the routine use of power tools
  • are able to bend, squat, kneel, and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • are able to climb and balance upon ladders 6.0 feet tall, or less
  • can handle a variety of tasks at one time
  • can complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely and effective manner
  • can exercise discretion in the dissemination of information
  • have access to a personal vehicle in good working order, a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record, as well as proof of auto insurance is required
  • are dependable, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve
  • will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer
Job Requirements
  • Work Hours: This position requires consistent attendance during scheduled hours, as flexibility is limited by classroom or operational requirements.
  • Physical Requirements: The position may require certain physical abilities, such as interacting with prospective families, traveling across Los Angeles County, walking or standing for long periods or moving through various parts of the school.
  • Social Requirements: The position requires extensive interaction with students, colleagues, and members of the public.
  • On-Site Presence: This role requires regular, in-person attendance to meet the needs of students, staff, and the school environment. Remote work/telecommuting is generally not an option.
Compensation

The starting hourly rate range for this position is $23.19 - $25.05 based on education. In addition, Green Dot offers one of the most robust and comprehensive benefits packages in the industry (for both you and your dependents):
