Job summary

Cornerstone seeks a Facilities Assistant to maintain a safe, welcoming environment across our Bloomington location and other Cornerstone sites. You will perform housekeeping, light maintenance, and grounds upkeep to ensure smooth daily operations for participants, staff, volunteers, and community members.

The role requires the ability to travel to additional sites, lift up to 50 pounds, and work both independently and with teams while upholding trauma-informed practices and safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Experience in housekeeping, maintenance, inventory coordination, or related operational work.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, problem solve and work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact professionally with participants, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical job duties in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current insurance with the ability to travel throughout Hennepin County.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout residential and program facilities.
  • Complete housekeeping duties including cleaning participant rooms, common areas, bathrooms, offices, and exterior grounds.
  • Assist with routine preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and facility upkeep.
  • Conduct room inspections to support health, safety, and maintenance standards; support organization and cleanliness of donation and storage areas.
  • Communicate supply, maintenance, and facility needs to the Facilities Manager.
  • Adhere to organizational safety policies, procedures, and trauma-informed practices.

Job Summary:

The Facility Assistant will help maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for participants, staff, volunteers, and community members. This position plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of our facilities through housekeeping, minor maintenance, and grounds upkeep. This position is primarily based at our Bloomington location and will require travel to additional Cornerstone sites throughout Hennepin County.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motion for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to push and pull cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums, carts, floor machines)
  • Comfortable reaching, stretching, and kneeling to clean various surfaces and areas
  • Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment and supplies safely and effectively
