Job summary

Southwestern Michigan College invites applications for adjunct History instructors to start in the Spring 2027 semester. Courses are scheduled to meet face-to-face in the morning and early afternoon; online classes are not available at this time.

Strong organizational and communication skills are required, along with a Master’s degree and coursework in the content area. Preferred candidates will have a Master’s degree or higher in the subject matter and prior college teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in the content area.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Ability to promote active and collaborative learning through a variety of teaching methods.
• Demonstrated use of instructional technology.

Responsibilities

• Teach History courses face-to-face in the morning and early afternoon.
• Develop and assess student work and performances.
• Create engaging lesson plans and learning activities to promote active participation.
