Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and Stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other metals.
• Fabricate guards, platforms, racks, fixtures, carts, handrails, and structural components.
• Repair production equipment and plant machinery through welding and fabrication.
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and measurements accurately.
• Lay out, cut, fit, and assemble fabricated components to specification.
• Operate fabrication equipment including band saws, ironworkers, drill presses, grinders, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel cutting equipment, chop saws, and forklifts (if certified).
• Use precision measuring tools to verify fit and function.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and safety.
• Assist maintenance with equipment installations, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.

Pay Scale: $19 - $23 DOE

Position Summary

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and modifying metal components, machinery, and production equipment to support manufacturing operations. This position requires proficiency in MIG and Stick welding, blueprint reading, metal fabrication, and the safe operation of fabrication equipment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, quality-focused, and capable of working independently or as part of a maintenance team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and Stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other metals.
• Fabricate machine guards, platforms, racks, fixtures, carts, handrails, and structural components.
• Repair production equipment and plant machinery through welding and metal fabrication.
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and measurements accurately.
• Lay out, cut, fit, and assemble fabricated components to specification.
• Operate fabrication equipment including:
  • Band saws
  • Ironworkers
  • Drill presses
  • Grinders
  • Plasma cutters
  • Oxy-fuel cutting equipment
  • Chop saws
  • Forklifts (if certified)
• Use precision measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and levels.
• Install fabricated components and verify proper fit and function.
• Perform field welding and repairs throughout the facility as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
• Assist the maintenance department with equipment installations, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.
• Work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environments.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
• Ability to safely operate power tools and welding equipment.

Work Environment
