Job summary

Certex-USA-In is seeking a Fabricator to assemble wire rope and chain products for heavy industrial applications in construction, energy, mining, lifting and rigging. You will learn to identify materials, measure and cut to specification, fabricate slings, install fittings, and operate cutting and swaging equipment after training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in construction, oil, mining, aerospace, heavy industrial or maritime preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow work orders, drawings, blueprints, capacity tables and product specs.
• Identify materials needed to complete each order.
• Measure and cut wire rope, chain and other materials to length.
• Fabricate and repair wire rope slings, chain slings and lifting assemblies.
• Install fittings, hooks, links, sleeves, tags and labels per work instructions.
• Set up and operate cutting equipment, swaging machines, and forklifts after training.
• Prepare, stage, inspect, store and handle fabrication materials.
• Perform testing and quality inspections to meet work orders and safety requirements.
• Package finished products and assist with shipping, receiving and inventory.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Report safety concerns and equipment issues to supervision.
• Keep tools and work areas clean, organized and safe.
• Work with team to complete quality products on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

Fabricator assembles wire rope and chain products used in a wide range of industries around the world. The Fabricator learns to identify various materials, sizes, and configurations while developing an understanding of their applications in construction, energy, mining, lifting and rigging, aerospace, maritime, and other heavy industrial environments. Working alongside experienced team members, the Fabricator receives hands‑on training and builds the skills needed to safely produce high‑quality products that support critical operations across numerous industries.

Essential Functions:

• Read and follow work orders, drawings, blueprints, capacity tables, and product specifications.
• Identify wire rope, chain, fittings, and other materials needed to complete each order.
• Measure and cut wire rope, chain, and other materials to the required length.
• Fabricate and repair wire rope slings, chain slings, and other lifting assemblies.
• Install fittings, hooks, links, sleeves, tags, and labels according to work instructions.
• Set up and safely operate cutting equipment, swaging machines, proof testing equipment, and forklifts after completing required training.
• Prepare, stage, inspect, store, and handle materials used during fabrication.
• Perform or assist with product testing and quality inspections to ensure finished products meet work order and safety requirements.
• Package finished products and assist with shipping, receiving, inventory, or deliveries when needed.
• Maintain accurate inventory, production, inspection, and testing records.
• Report damaged materials, defective products, equipment problems, or safety concerns to a supervisor.
• Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Work with team members to complete quality products safely and on time.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Basic reading and math skills needed to understand work orders and complete measurements.
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure, digital micrometer, and other measuring tools.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, product specifications, and safety procedures.
• Familiarity with cutting machines, swagers, crimping tools, winches, or similar industrial equipment is preferred.
• Ability to identify or learn wire rope, chain, fittings, and other rigging components.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing safe, quality work.
• Ability to manage time, stay organized, and complete assigned work on schedule.
• Reliable, willing to learn, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

The nature of work involves considerable physical effort to perform mechanical tasks. Required to:

• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as directed
• Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally during operations.
• Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired
• Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out, use multiple muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects and make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists.
• Employees may work in extreme heat and cold temperatures in warehouse settings with dirt and dust and a moderate to loud noise level.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Prior experience in the following industries preferred: construction, oil industry, mining, aerospace, heavy industrial, & maritime.
