Job summary

The Corken Steel Products Company in Dayton, OH is seeking a Fabricator to produce sheet metal parts for HVAC and roofing applications. You will operate fabrication machinery, read basic blueprints, and ensure quality and on-time delivery while following safety procedures.

Responsibilities include deburring, finishing, labeling, packaging, and maintaining clean work areas. Mechanical aptitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential; prior sheet metal experience is preferred

Description

Position Summary

The Fabricator produces consistent, high-quality fabricated products for customers of The Corken Steel Products Company. Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor or Manager, this role supports assigned fabrication processes, including but not limited to Residential and Commercial HVAC & Roofing items such as: Ductwork, Welding, Shearing, Braking, Soldering, Rollforming, Ductboard, Spiral Pipe, Flashings, Chases, & Chimney Caps. The Fabricator follows safety requirements, uses tools and machinery properly, verifies work against specifications, and supports on-time delivery.

Position Responsibilities

• Fabricate sheet metal products using applicable machines, tools, and equipment.
• Support fabrication processes such as ductwork, welding, shearing, braking, soldering, rollforming, ductboard fabrication, and spiral pipe as assigned.
• Read and follow job instructions, customer specifications, basic blueprint outlines, sketches, and hand drawings when applicable.
• Prepare, de-burr, buff, grind, finish, label, stage, and package materials for customer pickup, delivery, or outbound shipment.
• Assist customers, vendors, and team members with loading and unloading materials in a courteous and professional manner.
• Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, including proper use of required PPE and safety equipment.
• Use hand tools, power-driven equipment, measuring devices, and fabrication machinery according to company procedures.
• Complete required daily paperwork, job documentation, production records, or labels accurately when applicable.
• Maintain equipment, tools, materials, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Report material issues, equipment concerns, quality problems, safety hazards, or job delays promptly to the supervisor.
• Participate in on-the-job safety, machinery, product, and process training as required.

Qualifications

• Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn and apply sheet metal fabrication processes.
• Ability to prepare, de-burr, buff, grind, finish, and handle sheet metal materials safely.
• Knowledge of fabrication machinery, general equipment set-up, and related safety procedures preferred.
• Ability to use measuring devices and inspection tools accurately.
• Ability to read or interpret basic blueprint outlines, engineering sketches, job specifications, or hand drawings as applicable.
• Strong attention to detail, dependability, and willingness to work in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and vendors.
• On-the-job safety and machinery training required.

Experience

• Sheet metal fabrication experience: 1 year preferred.
• Experience using fabrication machinery, hand tools, power tools, or measuring devices preferred.
• Entry-level candidates with mechanical aptitude and the ability to complete required on-the-job training may be considered.
