Job summary

Sentry Equipment in Oconomowoc, WI is seeking motivated Fabrication Technicians to join a hands-on, cross-functional team. You'll perform assembly, welding, coiling, and hydrotesting to produce high-quality standard product lines, advancing from Level I to Level V with increasing responsibilities.

You will work with robotic welding systems, operate fabrication equipment, read blueprints, maintain ERP records, and participate in lean initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience with mechanical assembly or welding.
  • Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Basic TIG welding proficiency.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop environment.
  • Familiarity with robotic systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and welding assembly per specs.
  • Operate fabrication equipment: saws, welders, grinders, hydrotest.
  • Inspect using scales, templates, gauges.
  • Maintain ERP records of parts and production progress.
  • Package products for shipment and handle inventory.

Job Description

We1re looking for driven, mechanically minded individuals to join our team as Fabrication Technicians. This is a hands‑on, multi‑disciplinary role supporting the production of our standard product lines. You1ll work in a cross‑functional fabrication cell performing assembly, welding, coiling, hydrotesting, engraving, and packaging—building high‑quality products that our customers rely on.

As you grow from Level I through Level V, you1ll expand your technical capabilities, take on leadership responsibilities, and become a key contributor to continuous improvement across the department.

What You27ll Do

Core Responsibilities (All Levels)

  • Perform mechanical and welding assembly per engineering specifications
  • Operate and adjust fabrication equipment including saws, welders, grinders, and hydrotest stations
  • Use scales, templates, tape measures, and gauges for inspection and layout
  • Maintain accurate ERP records of parts and production progress
  • Package products for shipment
  • Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and lifting devices
  • Follow all PPE and safety policies
  • Participate in continuous improvement and lean initiatives

  • Perform basic mechanical assemblies using standardized work instructions
  • Assist in operating saws, grinders, and basic tools
  • Maintain part inventories and complete basic ERP transactions
  • Support housekeeping and organization
  • Begin learning tube straighteners and hydrotest machines
  • Perform welding, assembly, and hydrotesting independently
  • Maintain accurate part and work‑order records
  • Identify defective parts and perform in‑process testing
  • Support packaging and material handling
  • Become proficient with robotic welding systems and hydro rigs
  • Assist in training new team members
  • Maintain crane operation certifications
  • Learn complex product builds
  • Independently operate all cell equipment and adjust programming
  • Troubleshoot quality issues and validate part accuracy
  • Support inventory management and process flow improvements
  • Mentor lower‑level technicians and help lead daily job sequencing
  • Demonstrate full proficiency across all matrix categories
  • Program and operate advanced machinery including robotic systems and orbital welding
  • Lead team training and validate skill certifications
  • Represent the cell in planning and improvement initiatives
  • Support leadership in safety audits and process changes

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience with mechanical assembly, welding, or machine operation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings
  • Basic TIG welding proficiency
  • Ability to bend, reach, squat, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a shop environment
  • Good spatial orientation, hand-eye coordination, and eyesight
  • Familiarity with the safe operation of robotic systems.
  • Positive attitude, ownership mentality, and strong teamwork skills
