Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Fabrication Technician (Fluid Systems) for night shift to support LOX/fuel facilities. You will build, install, and troubleshoot GSE, operate high‑pressure hardware, and collaborate with design engineers to document activities.

The role requires mechanical aptitude and experience with pneumatic/hydraulic systems. The position emphasizes safety compliance, equipment fabrication/repair, and readiness for critical launch milestones, including possible travel and night/weekend

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with pressurized, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems.
• Experience in aerospace or other high‑reliability environments is preferred.
• Formal mechanical training and proficiency with hand/power tools.
• Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral.
• Willingness to work night shift (Mon-Fri 4:30 pm–3:00 am) and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Provide GSE support, building, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting LOX/fuel equipment.
• Operate and maintain high-pressure systems and related hardware.
• Fabricate and repair GSE and equipment; document activities with engineers.
• Ensure materials meet Clean for Oxygen Service Standards.
• Follow SpaceX safety, quality, OSHA, NFPA, and related procedures.
• Assist with testing operations and continuous process improvements.
• Occasionally travel to other sites up to 15% of the time.

FABRICATION TECHNICIAN (FLUID SYSTEMS) - NIGHT SHIFT

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technician ground support equipment (GSE) support, which involves building, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment such as pumps, tanks, valves, and plumbing related to the liquid oxygen (LOX) pad, fuel pad, and other aspects of the site facilities
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and instrumentation as needed
• Operate and maintain hardware, high-pressure systems and pumps, and other ancillary equipment, including pneumatic components
• Fabricate and repair GSE, hardware, and equipment
• Collaborate with design engineers to develop and document ground support equipment activities
• Ensure all materials are clean and inspected according to Clean for Oxygen Service Standards
• Build and maintain GSE, LOX/fuel farms, and associated systems/equipment
• Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, or certifications as required
• Follow all necessary regulations and appropriate SpaceX procedures, including quality policies, safety policies, OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, ASME, NEC, etc.
• Develop ways to streamline processes and increase the reliability of testing operations
• Perform a variety of related duties in support of vehicle, launch pad, and development programs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 1+ years of professional hands-on experience with pressurized, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience in the aerospace industry, military or other high‑reliability operating environment
• Experience in ground support equipment in an aerospace industry
• Mechanical aptitude and experience (work with machines and general tooling)
• Formalized mechanical training, skilled in hand and power tool usage
• A demonstrated experience where quick‑thinking and problem solving plays a critical role
• Knowledge of vacuum, hydraulic and pump systems
• Knowledge of all types of borescope inspection equipment
• Knowledge of different fittings such as NPT and A/N
• Ability to utilize power tools and hand tools as well as heavy equipment
• Experience with precision tube bending
• Experience with precision measuring instruments
• Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical schematics as well as piping and instrumentation diagrams
• Knowledge of hazardous systems – cryogenic, flammable, hypergolic, pyrophoric
• Knowledge of high‑pressure system design and handling

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
• Ability to work the following shift:
  • Monday – Friday 4:30 pm – 3:00 am
• Ability to work nights & weekends when needed to meet critical launch milestones
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 lbs.) unassisted
• Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings and climbing hand over hand
• Ability to work at elevated heights (up to 100 feet)
• Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
• Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
• Travel to other sites may be required, up to 15% of the time
