Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Fabrication Technician for the 2nd shift in El Paso, TX. The role involves fabricating parts from steel, aluminum and cast metals, following blueprints, and ensuring quality and safety compliance.

The position offers an hourly rate of $23.92 plus a $1.00 shift differential per hour, with eligibility for a variable pay plan. Shift: 4:00pm-12:45am. Relocation is not offered; candidates must reside within 50 miles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year metal fabrication technician experience.
• No immigration sponsorship or relocation benefits; within 50 miles of work location.
• Active-Duty Military Service members are exempt from area limitation.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate parts from steel, aluminum and cast metals per blueprints.
• Maintain safety, 5S, PPE compliance, and proper equipment operation.
• Set up, operate and maintain machines like shear, Finn Power, Prima, and press brakes/benders.
• Ensure on-time progress and communicate concerns promptly.
• Identify process improvements and perform root cause analysis for quality issues.
• Cross-train and stand in for other employees as needed.

Position Overview

In this function you will:

• Fabricate parts from steel, aluminum and cast metals according to the specifications in the blueprints.
• Contribute to a safe, engaged, and inclusive work culture by complying with all policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment, and performing 5S duties.
• Work from travel document, blueprints and oral or written instructions to setup, operate and perform periodic maintenance on a variety of machines including the shear, Finn Power, Prima, Horizontal Press Brakes/Benders, and Trump Laser.
• Maintain expected progress of jobs in area of assignment and communicate concerns appropriately.
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement as well as complete root cause analysis in response to issues with quality or production.
• Responsible for quality, including measuring finished parts with tape measure and/or calipers, visual inspections of material, identifying nonconforming parts, and troubleshooting errors.
• Cross train and stand in for other employees/job functions when necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 1 year of metal fabrication technician experience.

Preferred

• 1 or more years of experience in sheet metal fabrication including experience with standard punch and bend tooling and processes.
• 1 or more years of experience reading blueprints, manufacturing diagrams or drawings, or operating instructions.
• 1 or more years of experience with measuring devices (i.e., tape measure and calipers).
• 1 or more years of experience as a machine operator or a graduate of a machine certificate program.
• 1 or more years of experience with Eaton systems including DMM and AS-400.

• Work with individuals and groups to effectively participate within team environment.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands to handle and feel.
• Ability to walk, stoop, lift, carry, push, pull and grip, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 25 pounds with or without accommodation.
