Job summary

Cobalt Truck Equipment in Nampa, ID is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator to join our shop team. This full-time role involves welding, fabrication, reading CAD drawings, and following AWS standards under the direction of the Lead Fabricator.

You will prepare fabrication, layout, and cuts, operate to 10 gauge through 1 inch steel, and potentially weld aluminum. Candidates must have own tools, strong math skills, and the ability to read prints and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• 3+ years welding experience.
• 1+ year custom fabrication preferred.
• Must have own tools.
• Certified but not required.

Responsibilities

• Weld to AWS specs on 10 gauge to 1” steel.
• Weld aluminum or be willing to learn.
• Fabrication prep, layout and forming.
• Read prints and CAD drawings to AWS standards.
• Perform quality checks on completed jobs.
• Keep a clean, safe service bay and adhere to PPE requirements.
• Meet deadlines and work efficiently within shifts.

Summary

This position involves custom welding, fabrication and knowledge of reading CAD drawings and reports to the Service Manager, with direction from the Lead fabricator.

Essential Functions

• GMAW, GTAW, SMAW Proficient or willing to learn.
• Fabrication prep, cutting, using grinder, etc.
• Fabrication including some design, layout, cutting, and forming.
• Welding to specifications; 10 gauge to 1” steel.
• Ability to weld aluminum and or willing to learn.
• Perform quality control checks on all completed jobs.
• Quickly and efficiently perform all assigned tasks in the time frame presented on the job.
• Always maintain a clean and well kept service bay as it is our image to the public.
• Must have own tools (Will go over list of recommended tools prior to schedule of interview).
• Effectively read & understand prints to AWS standards.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Ability to stay organized and manage tasks, tools, and workspace efficiently.
• Proficient in mathematics including measurements, fractions, and conversions.
• Proficient in technical skills such as welding, fabrication tools, and reading CAD/AWS standards.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all work.
• Ability to manage time and complete tasks within deadlines while maintaining quality.
• Proficient in measurement tools including tape measures and precision instruments.
• Ability to problem-solve and resolve issues in design, fit, or process.

This position works in a climate-controlled shop setting. Proper PPE must be worn at all times. Must be able to work well in group settings at times when needed.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or type; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a half hour lunch, but hours could change based on need.

Preferred Education and Experience

• 3+ Years welding experience
• 1+ Years Custom fabrication preferred
• Must have own tools.
• Certified but not required.
