Job summary

Boon Edam Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC operator to set up and run laser and press brake equipment in our sheet metal fabrication area. You will read blueprints, perform setups, and ensure parts meet exact specifications in a safe, productive environment.

The role requires 3–5 years of CNC experience, the ability to interpret drawings, and accurate measurement skills. Overtime may be required; we offer competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience setting up CNC laser & press brake equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Proficiency with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
• Strong teamwork and communication in a fast paced shop.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC laser and press brake equipment.
• Perform and document quality inspections and testing.
• Read engineering drawings and follow specified tolerances.
• Maintain inventories and housekeeping of sheet metal and parts.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Consistently practice safe work habits and abide by all safety policies and guidelines
• Maintain inventories of all sheet metal and parts using established control procedures
• Safely handle sheet metal and material handling equipment to prevent injuries, prevent damage to equipment and to ensure the quality of the product
• Do complex setups, recall, edit programs and make offsets as required to troubleshoot and meet quality & production requirements on laser and press brake CNC equipment
• Perform cutting, bending, punching, drilling, and deburring, etc. operations per engineering drawings, specifications and established practices
• Organize and complete tasks on time to meet the production schedule requirements
• Be willing to cross train and train lesser experienced employees in the area
• Perform and document all quality inspections and testing as required
• Handle sheet metal and other material and prepare products for delivery to the next customer as required
• Maintain housekeeping, safety & user maintenance of all equipment as required
• Accurately record time and material data as required for production reporting

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent (Associate Degree is a plus)
• 3-5 years’ experience in setting up and operating CNC laser & press brake equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Must be able to read measuring tools such as calibers, micrometers, tape measures, protractor, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team and actively contribute to the success of the team
• Good communication (English fluency) and organization skills with a positive attitude
• Must be able to work overtime as needed
• Must be physically able to perform all aspects of the job & be able to lift a minimum of 30lbs
• Thorough knowledge of work holding systems, tooling and safe machining practices
• Must be self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to multi-task
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate windows systems required
